Navigate and Bring Awareness to Perinatology

MENtal Health Matters

Men commit suicide at a rate 4x greater than women which estimates to 80% of suicides in the US committed by men. White men aged 45-64 are most affected. Men express themselves differently than women which contributes to the under diagnosing of men with mental health concerns. Less than half of men with mental health conditions will seek help. Men are also twice as likely to develop substance abuse disorders. To assist with feelings of hopelessness and inadequacies The Natal Network offers a partnership with therapy services and financial education. Enjoy this video that highlights the statistics of men’s mental health.

Meditation Sessions

Experience tranquility and liberation through guided meditations and breathing exercises as you prepare your body and spirit for more blessings. Our meditation sessions assist with building inner strength, cleansing negative emotions. Mindful meditation helps you become more in sync with your body and your growing baby. If your sleep patterns have been altered meditation can increase your amount of restful sleep.

When done in unison this skill can heighten the intimacy in your relationships and give you all sweet memories to share.

What does the science say?

Mediation reduces stress, anxiety and depression. Lower stress levels are correlated with reduced risk of preterm birth and better fetal development.

Intentional breathing exercises activate the parasympathetic nervous system reducing cortisol (stress hormone).

Neuroscience research states the benefits of daily meditation include:

  • Thickens the prefrontal cortex (decision making, and focus)
  • Shrinks the amygdala (stress response center)
  • Increases gray matter in area related to memory and learning
